A Journeyman Electrician is responsible for the electrical safety of the facility/site in which he/she works in. He/she is responsible for reporting, troubleshooting, and preventing electrical problems daily. He/she is responsible for efficiently and effectively installing electrical equipment and material to complete assigned tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct or attend daily safety briefings
  • Maintain safety working conditions at all times.
  • Maintain condition, functionality and use of proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at all times.
  • Identify different electrical classifications and conform to the varying requirements.
  • Cut, thread and bend conduit of all types and sizes to specifications.
  • Troubleshoot electrical circuits of all kinds and determine what measures needs to be taken to fix or prevent electrical problems.
  • Install and/or replace electrical circuits indoors and outdoors of the facility.
  • Plan, layout and install electrical wiring, equipment and/or fixtures based on the job specifications and local codes.
  • Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring or equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
  • Advise management if the continued use of equipment could be hazardous.
  • Provide preliminary cost estimates for materials and services.
  • Additional duties may be assigned by Director of Electrical Services.
