Job description

Primary Objectives of Position:

Under the general supervision of the Workforce Program Director, the Career Advisor will be responsible for and maintaining a case management process for justice involved individuals in coordination with ReSpECTWORKS Leadership who are eligible for Pathway Home 2 (ReSpECTWORKS), Workforce Innovations and Opportunity Act (WIOA) or other related programs. The Career Advisor is responsible for providing quality job seeking and case management services to justice involved individuals with a release date from a Correctional Facility. The Career Advisor will provide support and assistance to program participants in all areas related to gaining and/or retaining employment and career advancement. Due to the dynamics of working with individuals, this position necessitates an individual who is comfortable working in an environment that is constantly evolving. The Career Advisor will routinely visit Correctional Facilities after undergoing a background check and training. This position requires an organized individual who can efficiently handle several responsibilities simultaneously.

Duties

Provide consistent and intensive case management services to justice involved individuals with release dates from Correctional Facilities within the One-Stop system to include follow-up services;

Complete intake and eligibility determination for the workforce programs. Assess jobseekers employment and training needs and abilities through interviewing, testing and other methods;

Enter data into and otherwise use and process clients through any participant information system as required, and any other database as required by the One-Stop system and ReSpECTWORKS;

Counsel clients on the local labor market, available job opportunities, training programs and other services provided by partners.

Facilitate an Initial, and Comprehensive Assessment, and create an Individual Employment Plan with the job seekers input, to address remediation of job-related barriers and/or deficiencies and identify necessary skills to promote success in the program.

Document all participant contacts and activities in case progress notes.

Utilize proper tracking tools to ensure monthly contacts and appropriate provision of services with customers.

Complete Contracts vouchers and other documents required for clients entering training;

Refer individuals to appropriate services, training programs or job opportunities and follow-up on those activities;

Conduct initial assessments, orientation sessions, workshops, soft skills training and other group presentations for job seekers;

Follow all policies, procedures and regulations related to eligibility documentation; ensure that case files have originals and/or copies of eligibility documentation;

Maintain accurate individual case files for each registered job seeker assuring that each file contains all required eligibility documents and meets compliance requirements;

Attend and participate in all required virtual/in person meetings and trainings for the ReSpECTWORKS program in coordination with key stakeholders;

Provide and/or receive referrals for ReSpECTWORKS eligible individuals to pursue enrollment into the ReSpECTWORKS program as well as WIOA when applicable providing on-site or virtual services at the One-Stop centers and/or in Correctional Facilities;

Build professional one-on-one working relationships with justice involved individuals to assist in b eaking down barriers that are hindrances to obtaining and retaining employment;

Maintain continuous communication and collaborative activities with Business Service Representatives to set up Work Based Learning Opportunities. Refer customers to in-house hiring events, job/career fairs.

Meet and/or exceed program benchmarks. Participate in all staff related events as required including but not limited to training, staff meetings and individual supervision;

Respect and protect the privacy of participants when gathering, recording, storing and sharing confidential information;

Complete all required reports;

Demonstrate efficient computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Power Point and KANSASWORKS data base);
