Posting Summary

The CLEF Lab in the Behavioral Neuroscience Area of the Psychology Department at Rutgers University is seeking applications for an NIH-funded postdoc position for rodent (rat) electrophysiological, molecular and behavioral research aimed at understanding learning and memory processes in the brain. Consideration will be given to candidates with experience using in vivo neurophysiological techniques in animal models, and with interest in performing research that bridges the gap between neurophysiological and molecular process underlying plasticity processes in the nervous system. Applicants should be scientifically driven and dedicated to research involving animal models of human abilities in learning, memory, and audition/hearing.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

Ph.D. in Neuroscience or a related field with experience working with animal models of behavior. Recent PhD graduates are encouraged to apply. A strong background in neurophysiological techniques is required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong programming skills in Matlab, R, or Python and advanced data analysis techniques. Strong communication and writing skills. Excellent inter-personal skills to function in a lab "team" environment of graduate students and undergraduate research assistants. Experience working with neurophysiological rigs, electrode arrays and animal survival surgeries is preferred.

Equipment Utilized

Equipment utilized will include (but is not limited to): Auditory stimulation hardware and software in tandem with neurophysiological recording rigs made by Tucker-Davis Technologies Inc. Behavioral training chambers for training and testing rodent subjects from Coulbourn or MedAssociates.

CLEF Lab is located on the Busch Campus of Rutgers University in suburban Piscataway, NJ, on the Northeast Corridor, with commuting access to New York City, Princeton, and Philadelphia.
