Cardiothoracic ICU RN Valid NC RN License or Compact State RN License required. Critical care experience required. ACLS and BCLS required. CVT is an 18-bed acuity adaptable unit specializing cardiothoracic surgery, vascular surgery, and management of Intra-aortic balloon pumps, and Impella devices. Nurses develop strong assessment skills and become experts at managing drip titrations, chest tubes, and ventilators. With the acuity adaptable approach, nurses manage care of the patient requiring open heart surgery from admission through discharge. This setting provides for efficient patient care and strengthens the nurse/patient relationship. Nurse are required to obtain and maintain ACLS certification. To develop and maintain a highly educated registered nursing staff to meet the present and future demands of the nursing profession, employees who begin employment with FirstHealth of the Carolinas in a position that requires a registered nurse must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree within five (5) years of their employment date.
