This position is located within the Administrative Department at the Pine Ridge Service Unit in Pine Ridge, SD. The purpose of this position is to provide the complete range of clerical and administrative support services and to provide administrative assistance to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Deputy Chief Executive Officer (DCEO) at the Pine Ridge Service Unit and plays a central role in coordinating the overall
Serve as office manager and personal assistant the CEO and Deputy CEO performing administrative duties to include but are not limited to - administrative support, secretarial, clerical, and receiving and making calls for the executive staff. Incumbent works as the Background Investigation Coordinator for the facility. Issues Government I.D. badges to employees, volunteers, contractors and, if necessary, visitors. Incumbent is responsible for requesting personnel actions via Human Resources systems. The incumbent will serve as the timekeeper for the administrative and clinical services staff. Helps coordinate appointments, meetings, conference calls, and/or trainings. Completes travel orders, travel vouchers and training forms. Helps to compile statistical data for a variety of administrative reports, office equipment, leave, overtime, workload, training and staffing level. Maintains an effective filing system to ensure that records are maintained.

GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Basic knowledge of administrative processes such as creating a variety of correspondence in proper formats using word processing programs; maintain manual and electronic calendars; input data into automated timekeeping system; serves as a receptionist and point-of-contact for an office; assist management in pre-recruitment actions to fill vacancies. OR, successfully completed 4 years of education beyond high school. GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Assist employees with automated background investigations; assist management in pre-recruitment actions to fill vacant positions; independently answers routine inquiries from staff and public; compile information from a variety of sources to prepare reports; maintain scheduling for management; serve as office timekeeper. GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Assist employees with background clearance forms and automated background investigation system; initiate procedures for verifying and authenticating licenses and certificates for ancillary personnel within the organization to include contract personnel; assist management in the pre-recruitment process to fill vacant positions; coordinate travel and/or meeting arrangements; respond to complaints from the public; compile information from a variety of sources to prepare reports. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.

Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. IHS may offer newly-appointed Federal employees credit for their directly related previous non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave is earned. This position is covered by a Bargaining Unit.
