ABOUT THE ROLE

The Global Production Engineering Services (GPES) team has an immediate opening of Sr. Advanced Electrical Engineer. You will be responsible for creating avionics product design changes and providing avionics product design expertise to sustain and grow Honeywell’s Aerospace Technologies business.

You will report to Honeywell site in Phoenix, AZ and will collaborate daily with staff distributed globally at different product design centers and factories. The GPES team is focused on improving supply chain performance by maintaining and improving designs for a wide variety of avionics products currently in the manufacturing phase.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use advanced avionics knowledge and engineering discipline to complete engineering tasks

  • Provide design expertise to support multiple teams of other product design engineers, test design engineers, manufacturing engineers, and production staff to resolve issues with product design, modification, upgrades, customer investigations, supplier investigations, obsolescence, and test system design changes.

  • Support product transitions from development to manufacturing phases and gain design authority delegation.

  • Use delegated design authority to review and approve class II product changes including coordination with internal and external customers for their approval and notification

  • Provide product design expertise for input into field failure investigations, suspect counterfeit parts investigations, product export/import classifications, and failure reporting, analysis, and corrective action system (FRACAS)

  • Provide material review board (MRB) engineering disposition authority for nonconforming parts

  • Communicate directly with internal and external customers and suppliers about product design effort to resolve problems such as supply chain delivery disruptions, no-fault-found situations, defect escapes, warranty review, and first-year-in-service failures

  • Convince internal customers to fund capital purchases by using quantified business impacts such as ROI, payback period, and NPV

  • Mentor junior engineers while defining and revising engineering processes for the GPES team.

U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization.

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics.

  • 8 years working in the avionics or electronics industry.

WE VALUE

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering

  • Knowledge of avionics products and systems such as cockpit displays, electromechanical instruments, flight controls, FMS, autopilot, inertial navigation, GPS, DME, ILS, nav/com radios, satcom, radio altimeters, weather radar, transponders, TCAS, EGPWS, and flight recorders

  • Understanding of FAR 21 (OEM) and FAR 145 (repair) regulation concepts

  • Familiarity with guidelines DO-178, DO-254 and DO-160

  • Understanding of product and test system configuration management

  • Ability to learn and comply with import and export regulations (EAR and ITAR)

  • Timely decisions in the face of complexity while balancing analysis with decisiveness

  • Ability to estimate business impact of engineering solutions

  • Self-motivation and ability to work with little supervision while resolving complex situations and problems
