U-Haul Senior Federal Tax Accountant in Phoenix, Arizona

U-Haul International is looking for an experienced income tax professional who is seeking to find a stable home. Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Primary responsibility for US federal income tax compliance, including tax return, workpaper preparation, extension filings, quarterly estimated payments, audits, and fixed asset reconciliations.

  • Primary responsibility for monthly, quarterly, and annual income tax reporting under ASC 740, including reviewing or preparing tax provision workpapers, return to provision analysis, the tax footnote, and SOX compliance.

  • Review/prepare detailed calculations and forms supporting the US Federal Life-Nonlife consolidated income tax returns

  • Assist the Director of Tax and Legal Department with research and tax structuring related to corporate business transactions

  • Participate in tax planning with the goal of minimization of corporate exposure on all forms of taxation.

  • Understand corporate restructurings and determine impact to compliance

  • Review, research, and respond to tax notices and other various tax issues that may arise for corporate entities.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Experience, Skills And Qualifications:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or an equivalent discipline.

  • 5 plus years of relevant income tax work experience in large corporation or in a large public accounting firm.

  • Experience with consolidated and multistate corporate income tax compliance.

  • Experience with ERP and related tax compliance software (SAP, OneSource Income Tax or similar).

  • Experience with ASC 740 financial statement tax provisions.

  • Experience with insurance company accounting and taxation helpful.

  • Strong hands-on skills, oral and written communication, good listening skills, and excellent attention to detail.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, multi-task and work well under pressure.

  • Ability to manage time during busy annual reporting/ tax season.

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

  • Experience with entire Microsoft Office Suite products with an emphasis on advanced Excel data management functions.
