Summary

Project Manager I | Facilities Design & Construction - Managerial and technical oversight for the initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure of assigned business unit projects.

What your day would be like:

You are responsible for:

  • Previous experience in facilities management or employment with a furniture company supporting facilities is highly desirable.

  • Candidates with a background in project management within furniture companies possess relevant skill sets and experience, particularly in handling small-scale projects.

  • Proficiency in understanding furniture requirements, IT desktop setups, and facilitating people moves is essential for success in this role.

  • Manages multiple projects typically lasting six (6) to eighteen (18) months involving a minimal number of internal stakeholders.

  • Leads teams of five (5) to ten (10) people to accomplish project objectives.

  • Project resources limited to business unit with project budgets typically up to $500,000 and project scopes identified as low complexity as defined within the APS Project Complexity guidelines.

  • May support more senior Project Managers on larger projects.

  • Develops simple execution plans including project plans, budgets and schedule.

  • Tracks and controls project variables.

Minimum Requirements

Project Manager I | Facilities Design & Construction

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Information Systems or related field

  • OR an equivalent combination of college coursework and experience as a Project Manager or related responsibilities defining and/or managing project scopes, timelines, budgets and delivery equaling four (4) years

  • AND two (2) years related project management experience.

  • Solid understanding of Project Management principles and methodology.

  • Basic functional/technical knowledge of the business units line of business may be preferred or required.

  • PMP certification preferred.

Major Accountabilities

1) Plans, monitors and manages all aspects of multiple, smaller scale projects including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure in accordance with internal process methodologies. Ensures completion according to project plan (i.e. scope, schedule, budget).

  • May support more senior Project Managers on larger projects.

    2) Develops and presents comprehensive project plan to project sponsors and management. Obtains all necessary approvals.

    3) Leads or coordinates project planning, resourcing, staffing, progress reporting, people management, and troubleshooting.

    4) Monitors performance and recommends schedule changes, cost adjustments or resource additions.

    5) Oversees schedules and directs team resources. Ensures that materials, equipment or resources are delivered on time.

    6) Ensures project results meet requirements regarding quality, reliability, schedule and cost.

    7) Provides timely and accurate information and status updates to project teams, business management, and project sponsors.

Flex Role:

This position is not required to be performed at a specific APS facility as long as adequate technology and a solid ergonomic set up are present. Pending agreement with leadership, employees hired into this role will be able to choose where they prefer to perform their work, but the ultimate decision is the company's. Employees will have two options to choose from:

  • APS office based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from an APS facility.

  • Home based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from his/her home.

    *Employees in Flex roles are required to reside in Arizona (or NM for Four Corners-based employees). Role types are subject to change based on business need.
