Responsibilities
SUMMARY - Provides a basic level of patient care and treatments. Assists with obtaining vital signs documents chief complaint and all actions taken. Alerts physician of problems/concerns/abnormalities. Assists with obtaining patient history assists physicians and residents and/or licensed nursing personnel. Performs simple patient procedures sets up exam/procedure rooms including instruments for minor procedures prepares and may include administering medications (excluding IV) under direct supervision of a physician. Obtains lab specimen and fills out requisitions completely and accurately. In addition to the above the Medical Assistant II functions more independently and coordinates the workflow of MAs when necessary. Obtains authorization for referral (normally in small clinics). Conducts front desk duties such as registration check-in and scheduling of patients.
Qualifications
MINIMUM
High School Diploma or G.E.D. and a graduate of a Medical Assistant Program or completion of an U.S. Armed Forces medical services training program. Candidates who completed a program prior to February 2, 2000 can satisfy the minimum education requirements by providing evidence of direct supervision by the same physician, physician group, or physician assistant for a minimum of 2000 hours to satisfy the minimum education requirements.
Demonstrated experience with computer program utilized for checking-in and scheduling patients required.
American Heart Association BLS
PREFERRED
Previous MA experience highly preferred.
Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience preferred.
Previous experience in designated specialty also preferred.
Bilingual skills preferred.
Pay Range
$18.00 - $24.66 /hour
