Be part of a team that applies its expertise and knowledge to mechanical projects, finding innovative, cost-effective means for improving products and technologies, and the techniques and procedures used to design and validate them. You will design products to meet customer needs while ensuring product quality and manufacturability at the lowest possible cost and weight. In addition to analysis and design work, you will direct the building and testing of prototype and early production hardware and may serve as a project manager for smaller development projects. Your work will be integral to satisfying current customers and securing future business by consistently meeting or exceeding Voice of Customer requirements.

You will design and analyze acoustic aspects of gas turbine engine components including source noise (e.g. fan/compressor, core, and jet noise), and acoustic treatment (e.g. liners, mufflers), using both 3rd party and custom software to perform acoustic simulations that inform design decisions. You will direct the building and testing of prototype and early production hardware, focusing on the acoustic features of such hardware and on acoustic tests conducted with it.

U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering, or mathematics

  • 2 years’ experience in acoustic engineering analysis and design, can include graduate studies

    WE VALUE

  • Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in acoustics engineering

  • Acoustic design experience related to gas turbine engines and their installations

  • Acoustic test experience including acoustic equipment, procedures, data analysis

  • Familiarity with acoustic and aerodynamic analysis software such as Actran, PowerFLOW, Ansys, Star CCM+, Fluent, CFX

  • Familiarity with general purpose analysis software like Matlab, and design software such as NX, Creo, Catia

  • Demonstrated mastery of MS Office software

  • Demonstrated previous hardware development program experience & success

  • Self-motivation and ability to work with little supervision, consistently taking the initiative to get things done, doing things before being asked by others or being forced to by events

  • Good knowledge of aerospace industry and products

  • Ability to convey subtle or complex messages clearly both in writing and verbally, as appropriate for the topic and audience

  • Willingness to put in the effort required get the job done
