Microsoft Corporation Land Development Policy Project Manager in Phoenix, Arizona

Microsoft’s Datacenter Development Land Development Organization supports the development and delivery of our data center portfolio from site identification and selection through to design, construction and operation. The Microsoft data center development portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year data center construction and lease projects.

Microsoft is seeking a Land Development Policy Program Manager with extensive policy experience in land use, real estate development, and economic development to enhance our global land development strategy for our data center portfolio. This role is essential for integrating in-depth policy analysis with our real estate insights, refining strategic planning, and enhancing decision-making across diverse international markets. The successful candidate will be adept in navigating and influencing policy environments related to real estate and land development, focusing on identifying opportunities for expedited entitlements and strategic advantages.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and advocate for policies that support sustainable and efficient land development practices.

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of policy landscapes that impact real estate development, including market trends, regulatory frameworks, and land use policies.

  • Collaborate with a team of real estate professionals, urban planners, and data analysts to align policy initiatives with strategic development goals.

  • Hands-on experience in policy to provide insights and guidance that shape the strategic direction and operational objectives for the team.

  • Communicate complex policy-related information effectively to internal team members and external stakeholders, ensuring clarity and coherence in strategic initiatives.

  • Conduct thorough research and analysis of real estate development data, focusing on market trends, regulatory frameworks, land use policies, and pathways to accelerated permitting.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Public Policy, or a related field AND 5+ years relavant experience

  • OR 7+ years Equivalent Experience

  • Potential experience focus on land development and economic development

  • Experience in policy analysis related to land use, economic development, and real estate development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, capable of articulating complex policy issues in a clear and persuasive manner.

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, particularly in a policy-driven environment.

  • A strategic thinker with a deep understanding of global market dynamics, regulatory environments, and the capacity to identify and leverage expedited permitting opportunities.

Real Estate Portfolio Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $115,000 - $200,300 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $146,200 - $219,200 per year.
