Enhances the hospital experience of the patient and their family members through strong customer service skills and actions appropriate to the particular floor. Items may include, but are not limited to greeting activities, patient rounding, call light response and alert of appropriate staff, patient/family education, acting as a resource for certain programs, discharge phone calls
Participate in value added activities as appropriate given staff, leadership, department and patient needs
Participate in administrative tasks that drive quality and core metrics. Activities may include, but are not limited to chart audits, auditing for clinical compliance or program compliance
Follow-up on physician orders and document actions taken in the medical record
Monitors the needs of nurse/physician during examinations, treatments, and procedures, and assists nursing in patient care with the appropriate competency and training
Anticipates the needs of the unit by ensuring all supplies and equipment are available for efficient patient care
Assists with /coordinates patient transportation to other departments/areas, orders appropriate mode of transportation. Assists staff/patient with admission, discharge, and transfer preparations/paperwork and obtains records from previous units/admissions
Coordinates communication with Patient Services (i.e.; Translator, Chaplain, Social Worker, etc.) and monitors response time for efficient patient care
Contributes to the smooth operations of the unit by coordinating staff communication methods (staff phone, whiteboard, etc) and enhances daily through-put via timely and effective communication and activities
Assists in keeping the desk areas and other areas visible to the public, clean and organized
Performs other duties as required including, inventory, documentation, clerical, dietary, light housekeeping and computer input.
Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently
