Job summary

At Amazon, we're working to be the most customer-centric company on earth. We are seeking a Procurement Category Manager for Labels for North American Fulfillment Center Operations needs. The person in this role will coordinate with several teams across Amazon and will interact with our most important suppliers to satisfy organizational requirements.

This role has responsibilities for optimizing and managing the labels category in a team with a Senior Label Category Manager.

A strategic sourcing approach for Label category must be developed and roadmap created to identify cost reduction opportunities over multiple years. Cross-regional teams will be directed to negotiate framework agreements and identify savings through standardization and automation. Supplier relationships at a senior level must be proactively managed to continually optimize performance, address any supply issues, and add value through regular review meetings.

Strong analytical and collaboration skills are needed to successfully drive programs across international operations and departments. Experience in supply chain, procurement, and project management in required. The ability to conceptualize new frameworks and engage stakeholders effectively is important for leading complex, large-scale initiatives that significantly improve logistics operations and lower costs through both process improvements and strategic sourcing.

Key job responsibilities

  • Oversee the implementation of approved solutions and monitor progress towards cost savings and performance targets.

  • Develop and execute a strategic sourcing approach for the labels category to identify savings opportunities.

  • Direct cross-regional teams to negotiate framework agreements and standardize sourcing and procurement processes.

  • Proactively manage senior-level supplier relationships through regular performance reviews and issue resolution.

  • Conceptualize new supply chain frameworks, engage stakeholders effectively, and collaborate across departments and regions.

A day in the life

The category manager's day begins with reviewing their schedule of label meetings. First is a supplier check-in to discuss demand, inventory, capacity and transportation. Issues are problem solved to ensure supply meets forecast.

Usage and cost data from the prior month is then analyzed for inefficient categories. Design or material changes are brainstormed for improvements.

A facilities meeting covers new labeling needs for upcoming projects. Requirements, volumes and timelines are discussed.

The procurement team update involves reviewing bids. Technical specifications are input and samples evaluated. Renewing contracts planning begins.

Urgent emails on label warehouse issues are addressed before logging off. Notes from the day are wrapped up and tomorrow's tasks begun.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookUps) at an advanced level and SQL

  • Experience in program or project management

  • Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams

  • Experience in defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics

  • Experience in supply chain

  • Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership

  • Experience leading process improvements

  • Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization

  • Experience building processes, project management, and schedules

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $68,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $141,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
