University of Pennsylvania Tenure Track Faculty position - Renal, Electrolyte and Hypertension Division - Junior rank in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

The Division of Renal-Electrolyte and Hypertension in the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for several Assistant Professor positions in the tenure track. Expertise is required in the specific area of investigation of mechanisms of kidney disease. The successful applicant will be expected to develop, grow and maintain an independently funded research effort focused in this area. The ideal candidate will have completed rigorous training, will have evidence of outstanding scientific productivity, and will have demonstrated success as an independent investigator. Applicants must have an M.D. or Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree.

Teaching responsibilities may include teaching medical students, residents, or fellows, or participating in graduate student teaching within one or more inter-departmental, interdisciplinary graduate groups of the Biomedical Graduate Studies (BGS) program.

Clinical responsibilities may include an optional small fraction of effort caring for patients on both inpatient consultative services and in outpatient nephrology clinics at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include studying the molecular and cellular basis of immunology, physiology, cell biology, metabolism, genetics or pathology, or applying modern experimental or discovery approaches to problems of kidney disease.

Exceptional Ph.D. applicants with a focus on kidney-related science will be considered. Physician candidates should be board certified/eligible in Nephrology. Appropriate resources will be made available to accelerate the applicant’s research program.
