Burns is currently seeking a Structural Engineering Associate to join our Railroad & Transit team in Philadelphia, Pa. Position Summary: The Structural Engineering Associate is a position for an engineer who has obtained their EIT. The selected candidate will make independent decisions on structural engineering challenges, with oversight from senior staff. He or she continues to develop technical expertise in structural engineering and begins to specialize in niche technical areas. He or she must dispense knowledge to staff through mentoring or internal presentations. The Structural Engineering Associate will spend the majority of their time using their technical expertise to produce projects on time, in budget, and with high technical quality and client satisfaction. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaborate with experienced engineers to design, analyze, and evaluate structural components and systems for railroad and transit projects that include station buildings, support facilities (office buildings, maintenance facilities, etc.), and subway stations. Develops structural drawings, specifications, and calculations using industry-standard software and tools. Assist in cond cting site visits, inspections, and structural assessments to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and project requirements. Support senior engineers in meeting project deliverables, schedules, and budgets to meet client expectations. Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and communicate effectively with team members. Takes lead in developing design approaches and concepts on assigned projects with assistance from the other senior technical staff, and delegates tasks on larger projects to junior staff and structural designers. Ensures that company technical policies and procedures are practiced during the execution of projects for clients. Reviews submittals and RFIs. Performs on-site inspections during construction. Develops innovative technical solutions and engineering methods to enhance efficiency, quality and production. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Bachelor's (B.S.) Engineering degree in Engineering from four-year college or university from an accredited program 3-8 years of related experience required. EIT is required at this level. Desire to obtain or about to obtain PE preferred Has experience in the design of structural steel and concrete structures. Experience performing condition assessments is preferred, but not required. Has experience using 3D analysis software. Experience with AutoCAD and Revit preferred. Candidate must have excellent writing and communication skills, and ability to work with clients.
