SUMMARY

The Sr. Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that products and manufacturing processes meet quality standards and specifications. The Quality Engineer will work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to drive improvements and maintain high-quality standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop a deep understanding of Rhoads and customer quality requirements and pro-actively ensure these standards are adhered to through training, audit and partnering with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Identify, compile and disseminate quality metrics for relevant processes to ensure compliance and continual improvement.
  • Monitor the entire production cycle and perform regular tests to identify potential malfunctions as early as possible
  • Install and update processes to ensure compliance with requirements and execute on continual improvement opportunities.
  • Lead corrective and preventive action (CAPA) and continual improvement (CI) teams as necessary.
  • Prepare reports on malfunctions and corrective actions (e.g. number of defective raw materials per order)
  • Review current blueprints and quality documentation
  • Set and track quality assurance goals (e.g. reduce average turnaround time for quality checks by 20%)
  • Coordinate with external quality assurance auditors and technicians to ensure legal compliance

     

*EDUCATION:  *

  • *Required: *Bachelor's degree in quality assurance, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field; relevant certifications (e.g., Six Sigma, ASQ) are a plus.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong understanding of quality control methodologies, tools, and techniques and engineering principles
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Personnel Security Clearance.
  • Ability to interpret customer requirements and provide guidance and direction to the organization.
  • Excellent written communication -- concise and accurate written documentation is essential.
  • Ability to communicate requirements in an industrial environment and give effective direction using written and verbal skills where appropriate.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical ability leading to exemplary execution.
  • Must be able to work independently and irregular hours, as required.
  • Ability to solve complex challenges independently in compliance with written and verbal guidance.
  • Ability to conduct investigations objectively and professionally regarding sensitive issues.
  • Fully competent in using various software tools including Microsoft Word, Excel, OneNote, and PowerPoint.

     

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality engineering preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The performance of this position involves exposure to construction or industrial areas where the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hard hats and hearing protection is required.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions, including sitting, standing, walking, and driving in an automobile
  • May require walking and standing on irregular, uneven surfaces in an industrial setting and possibly at increased heights climbing and descending ladders and ship stairways.
