The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), Bureau of Veterans' Homes (BHV), is seeking a hard-working and reliable individual to oversee and evaluate the management of safety programs at our six State Veterans' Homes. DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this position, you will develop, coordinate, implement, and maintain policies and procedures to institute an effective safety program at the veterans' homes. You will also evaluate safety programs already in place to ensure compliance with rules and regulations. Key responsibilities include developing, monitoring, and providing safety related guidance, training, and technical assistance, including OSHA training and onboarding for new staff. You will oversee the investigations of catastrophic injuries and accidents to ensure corrective action is taken, and write reports based on your findings. You will conduct regular safety inspections of the homes and develop as well as maintain emergency response plans.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. The work location will be determined from one of the following, based on preference of selected candidate: Delaware Valley Veterans' Home in Philadelphia, PA (Philadelphia County) Fort Indiantown Gap in Annville, PA (Lebanon County) Gino J Merli Veterans' Center in Scranton, PA (Lackawanna County) Hollidaysburg Veterans' Home in Duncansville, PA (Blair County) Pennsylvania Soldiers and Sailors Home in Erie, PA (Erie County) Southeastern Veterans' Center in Spring City, PA (Chester County) Southwestern Veterans' Center in Pittsburgh, PA (Allegheny County)

Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as an Administrative Officer 1; or Three years of experience in progressively responsible and varied office management or staff work, including experience in personnel management, budgeting, or procurement; and a bachelor's degree; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training. Additional Requirements: You must be able to perform essential job functions. Preferred Qualifications (not required): You should have have two or more years of experience developing and maintaining emergency response plans. You should have two or more years of conducting comprehensive reviews of facilities to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety requirements and protocols. You should be willing to obtain and maintain a valid Certified Safety Specialist (CSS) certificate issued by an approved OSHA training institution within two years of hire. You should be willing to obtain and maintain an OSHA Outreach Instructor training certification within two years of hire.
