A Brief Overview A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the Division of Rehabilitation Medicine at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) in the lab of Laura Prosser, PT, PhD. The lab studies the development and rehabilitation of movement in children with neurological impairments, with a focus on early motor development in children with or at risk for cerebral palsy. This includes the investigation of the development of impaired movement, the study of novel motor rehabilitation interventions, and the interaction between the processes of neuroplasticity and neuromaturation in sensorimotor systems. Current projects include the study of novel rehabilitation interventions and the development of novel measures of movement and function in infants and young children.

The postdoctoral fellow will become part of our multidisciplinary clinical research team and contribute to the understanding of the development of impairment movement in children with neuromotor conditions. The individual will be expected to conduct independent research and contribute to the overall goals of the laboratory. Postdocs are expected to participate in project planning, data analysis and presentation of work through seminars, scientific meetings, and manuscript preparation - skills that will help the fellow launch a career as an independent research investigator. Training should include a strong background in biomechanics, developmental science, computer science or rehabilitation science. Candidates should have obtained a PhD degree in the last 5 years and demonstrate strong communication and organization skills. Interested applicants should contact Dr. Prosser ()

Education Qualifications Doctorate Physical Therapy Required Doctorate Movement science, biomechanics or similar field of study. Preferred

Experience Qualifications At least two (2) years Minimum of 2 years of experience practicing as a physical therapist Preferred

Skills and Abilities Physical therapy examination, evaluation, and treatment of children with impairments of body functions and structure, limitations in activities, and participation restrictions (Required proficiency) Administer standard clinical tests of movement, child development, and motor function (Preferred proficiency) Biomechanical assessment of movement which may include expertise in accelerometry, electromyography, kinematics, kinetics and related signal processing (Preferred proficiency)

Licenses and Certifications Physical Therapy License (Pennsylvania) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - - Required
