Summary of Objective:

Oversee the weekly development and daily maintenance of the production schedule, working with all relevant internal stakeholders to balance organizational objectives and deliver against internal metrics and customer expectations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The essential duties and responsibilities include the following but other duties may be assigned.

Develops, prepares, and maintains production schedules to guide production activities. Balances achieving maximum efficiency (labor and equipment), meeting output and timeline objectives, and delivering against customer needs and expectations. Gathers data from internal teams to incorporate materials, capacity (equipment, production suites, and entire facility), inventory, resource availability, and delivery commitments into the production schedule. Identifies potential scheduling issues proactively and drives resolution of scheduling conflicts and potential or actual delays, coordinating internal stakeholders and leading internal meetings as appropriate. Identifies and proposes alternate scenarios to minimize impact to line time, business objectives, and customer needs. Partners with Operations and Business Unit (Project Management) to resolve line conflicts, streamline the schedule, ensure original promise dates are met, and ensure monthly financial targets are achieved. Champions best practices using ERP system (JDE), planning and scheduling software, and other database tools to develop and maintain production schedules and generate reporting. Substantially contributes to initiatives to improve on time in full (OTIF) metrics on all production lines, including identifying opportunities to cross-validate appropriate SKUs in multiple production suites to smooth demand across suites. Acts as a key contributor, along with Finance, Operations, and the Business Unit, to the sales, inventory, and operations planning (SIOP) process, especially as it relates to volume and capacity. Attends the daily morning and mid-afternoon production meetings to remain current with hourly and shift-level production. Frequently visits production suites to understand key factors affecting production suite capacity and throughput and appropriately incorporates data into planning and scheduling processes. Assumes a team lead role for the scheduling group and is considered a specialist on complex technical and business matters. Is expected to directly supervise and/or closely mentor other scheduling staff members. Provides a monthly update to Senior Management on forecasted production over the next 3 months. Analyzes forecast vs. actual production and explains any variance, including change in forecast from month to month, and proposes and drives improvements to reduce variance in future months. Leads efforts to increase duration of fixed schedule from a minimum of 1 week to the ambition of 4 weeks. Manages supplemental data and throughput rates per SKU site-wide to ensure source data are accurate. Performs other duties as assigned by Manager/Supervisor. This position may require overtime and/or weekend work. This position requires knowledge of and adherence to all PCI and cGMP policies, procedures, and rules. Attendance at work is an essential requirement of this position.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a pertinent field and 10+ years of experience in scheduling positions.

  • College Level Mathematical Skills

  • Advanced Computer Skills: Ability to perform the most complex computer tasks and operate various computer programs.

  • Full Professional Proficiency: Ability to speak, read, and write fluently and accurately on all levels pertinent to professional needs.

  • Very High Reasoning: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Be able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in math or diagram form and deal with several abstract/concrete variables.

  • Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team.

  • Ability to hold oneself in a professional manner.

  • Ability to effectively present information to various peopjle as the job requires.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills across all modes of communication.

  • Ability to display an organized, systematic, and timely approach to fulfilling duties of position.

  • Ability to evaluate and respond to material specific information, such as forecasting and production scheduling.

  • APICS or ASCM CPIM certification is highly preferred.
