Summary:

The Major Gift Officer for the College of Engineering, reporting to the Assistant Dean for the College, is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major donor prospects ($50,000+) to the College.

The Major Gift Officer will secure funds for Engineering by managing a portfolio of assigned donors, representing the College and Temple University at large, and establishing connections between donors' philanthropic interests and the priorities of the College of Engineering and Temple.

This person must be a highly energetic, organized, flexible and enthusiastic professional with a track record of closing major gifts, comfortable working autonomously, achieving performance-related metric goals, building donor relationships, working collaboratively and strategically with colleagues, and possessing a strong knowledge of the principles, ethics and practices of successful fund raising.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of directly related experience in donor relations and/or institutional giving, account management, or business-to-business sales. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects or assignments simultaneously.

Demonstrated ability to successfully communicate and work with high wealth individuals. Serves on various committees as requested. Requires an entrepreneurial spirit and a high motivation to achieve within an ambitious result driven environment where leadership skills are required for success. The understanding of the mission of a complex, urban university and the ability to persuasively represent its goals to multiple constituents. Ability to develop and sustain collaborative and supportive relationships with internal and external constituencies and maintain a positive and constructive attitude. Must be able to travel and work evening and weekend hours.

Preferred:

Higher education experience.

This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
