Job Summary Reporting to the Assistant Director of Architectural Trades, the Electrical Shop Supervisor has overall responsibility for the daily operation of the electrical shop and for the care and maintenance of the University's electrical infrastructure and back-up power plant.The supervisor is a key member of a management team of other skilled trades supervisors providing maintenance support required to optimize the University's learning and research environment. The Electrical Supervisor may work mornings, nights, and weekends as required and must be able to work On-Call several weeks throughout the year. Perform other job-related duties.

This position requires a valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle background check.

Required Education and Experience: *Technical School certification with Master Electrician Certification through the ICC or local authority *At least four (4) years of related experience in electrical trades. *An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities: *Ability to supervise electrical trades team. *Strong background with medium voltage equipment, cable and switching. *Experience and strict adherence to the NEC and safe working practices. *Knowledge of control theory, building mechanical systems and automation systems. *Experience planning, procuring and executing renovation jobs and coordinating with other trade managers. *Strong customer service focus. *Familiarity with all laws and regulations pertaining to equipment operation and repair. *Must have a basic understanding of building codes. *Proven supervisory skills with the ability to manage projects. *Working knowledge of all applicable computer software including MS Office. *Excellent written and verbal communication skills. *Demonstrated ability to read drawings, schematics, and one-line diagrams. *Ability to operate all standard engineering and facilities management equipment.
