Job Description/Essential Functions:

Horizon House, Inc. is a nationally recognized provider of services to adults with support needs due to developmental disabilities, behavioral health issues, and substance abuse. Horizon House is Pennsylvania's oldest psychiatric rehabilitation agency. Since 1952, we have been dedicated to helping people with mental illness, drug and alcohol addictions, developmental/intellectual disabilities, and homelessness to stabilize their lives and to help them live as independently as possible in the community. With over 100 locations throughout South and North Eastern Pennsylvania and the state of Delaware, Horizon House provides services to a diverse population focusing on individual strength and choice. Currently, we are seeking a full time Clinical Specialist to work in our Behavioral Health Services Division.

Purpose: * To provide individual and group therapy to program residents utilizing either of two evidence based practices: Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) or Cognitive Therapy for Psychosis (CT-R). * To lead skill building groups consistent with DBT model. * To conduct family therapy, as needed, for residents' identified family. * To provide clinical feedback to milieu staff on interventions and responses to residents. * To maintain a safe living environment, utilizing crisis management, for all residents. Supervision Received: * Receives direct supervision from the Program Director. Supervision Exercised: * NA

Job Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in the Social Sciences or related field and at least 2 years experience in the MH and/or Forensic field.
  • License eligible required for one of the following; LCSW, LPC, LMFT, licensed Psychologist preferred.
  • Very good oral and written communication skills, including ability to use an electronic health record.
  • Strong organization skills with ability to work independently and prioritize assignments.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.

Scope: * Frequent talking and listening. * Requires the ability to lift, carry, fold, kneel, reach, stack, stoop and bend which may include direct intervention with residents. * Will require crisis intervention in emergency situations, including managing aggression. * Possess manual dexterity and fine motor skills. * Local travel required, including transporting program participants. * May be required to report to work during emergencies, including inclement weather. * May be required to carry and answer an agency phone and be on-call with the ability to respond in person when needed.
