WuXi AppTec Associate Materials Planner in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Overview

The Associate Materials Planner will plan and manage the flow of raw materials throughout the entire supply chain.

Responsibilities

  • Own material flow from procurement through on-time delivery to manufacturing.

  • Work with master planning and production planning to plan, procure and provide promise dates for materials.

  • Expedite critical material availability from stock and suppliers, based on manufacturing needs.

  • Work closely with Manufacturing and Logistics to develop and maintain appropriate safety stock levels.

  • Manage material attribute data in the MRP system.

  • Actively and systematically look to improve business processes related to material planning, procurement and inventory management.

  • Evaluate the effect of system and process changes as they occur within the supply chain.

  • Develop and maintain metrics for material availability performance.

  • Actively participate in continuous improvement opportunities.

  • Normally receives minimal instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new assignments.

  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently as required

  • May be required to work Holidays and weekends

  • Contributes to the overall operations and to the achievement of departmental goals

  • Perform job specific tasks in compliance with applicable Regulations, International Standards, and WuXi AppTec Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Thorough understanding of Good Laboratory Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices

  • Other duties as assigned

  • May be required to assist in other departments

Qualifications

Experience / Education

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience or equivalent

  • Bachelors’ degree in Materials Management, Engineering or related field or equivalent experience

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Proven experience with ERP/MRP system in a manufacturing environment

  • GMP/GLP experience preferred

  • Great Plains software experience preferred

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing preferred

  • Must work effectively in a participative team environment and deliver on commitments

  • Strong negotiating, analytical, computer, and organizational skills a must!

  • Must have time management skills, multi-tasking ability, & demonstrated problem solving skills

  • Excellent presentation skills, both written and oral a must

  • Proficient in Oral & Written communication skills

  • Need to be able to read, write and understand English

  • Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in an office environment with minimal noise conditions.

  • Must be able to work in environment with variable noise levels

  • Ability to stand /Sit/walk for long periods of time

  • Ability to perform heavy physical work, lifting up to 65 pounds.

  • Clarity of Vision

  • Ability to identify and distinguish colors

  • Must be able to perform activities with repetitive motions

  • Ability to climb Ladders / Stairs / Scaffolding
