Availability of Position:Immediate (1 position available)

Schedule:Part Time Plus – up to 29 hours weekly, Monday-Wednesday 9:00am-5:00pm, Thursday 5:00pm – 9:00pm

Reporting Relationship:Drop-in Center Program Manager

Salary/Grade:$17-$19/hr, 74 Non-exempt

    Position Overview:The Anti-Human Trafficking Community Engagement Specialist (CES) will work with the Salvation Army’s New Day Drop-in to ensure onsite duties are completed during hours of operation. The CES will be responsible for assisting in the daily functioning of the Drop-in Center, coordinating access to resources for all women entering the center, as well as provide ongoing crisis intervention and leadership during the hours of operation. The CES will also participate in street outreach efforts. This is a grant funded position.

Responsibilities

Description of Position:The role of the Community Engagement Specialist will be to coordinate services and access to resources for all drop-in center participants. The CES is responsible for all daily operations of the drop-in center, including ensuring that services provided are culturally sensitive and trauma-informed. The CES will conduct initial screening and intake of newly identified victims of human trafficking and provide information and referral services to those entering the drop-in center. The CES will also conduct street outreach to individuals experiencing street-based prostitution and trafficking.

Qualifications

  • Certified Peer Specialist or Certified Recovery Specialist certification preferred.

  • Must have high school diploma or GED

  • Must possess two years of relevant work experience

  • Experience with trauma informed care preferably a working knowledge of Sanctuary Model for Trauma informed services.

  • Must understand the issue of Domestic and Foreign Human Trafficking and prostitution.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel from site to site as may be needed in the performance of duties.

  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred

  • As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter.

  • Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check.

  • Must possess an appreciation for and understanding of the mission of The Salvation Army.

  • This position is contingent on grant funding.
