If this describes you, you may be interested in the immediate opening for an Administrative Assistant 1 within the Department of Health, Bureau of Statistics and Registries, Division of Vital Records. Our mission is to promote a healthy Pennsylvania, and this position supports the bureau's mission of managing a statewide registry for vital events by serving as the branch registrar for death cases, performing fiscal management duties, carrying out public relations responsibilities, examining and processing a range of applications for vital event certificates, and amending birth and death records. DESCRIPTION OF WORK The eastern region Administrative Assistant 1 serves as the branch office registrar for the registration of deaths and fetal deaths. Duties include providing advice and counseling on a myriad of death registration issues, performing public relations activities by interacting with funeral directors and consumers in the branch office, and ensuring that records requests are legal in order to hinder fraudulent activity. You also act as a back-up to the branch clerks by providing in-person counter service to funeral directors and consumers seeking death records needed for funeral arrangements, insurance claims, and estate settlements.

Other duties include serving as the branch office's human resource liaison to ensure documents are submitted in accordance with regulation by communicating with prospective employees and coordinating on-boarding of new employees. In addition, you are responsible for the fiscal oversight of the branch office. These duties include preparing statistical reports, managing all incoming revenue and reconciling daily, ensuring daily deposit of revenue into the appropriate funding streams, reconciling bank statements, and serving as the purchasing coordinator.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
