The City of Pflugerville is seeking its next Utility Billing Cashier to join our team! The person we seek will believe in and exhibit the City's P.F.I.R.S.T. core values: Positive, Forward-thinking, Integrity, Resilience, Service, and Teamwork.

The Utility Billing Cashier provides excellent front line customer support for in person and over the phone customers and takes payments in person by cash, check and credit card. This position serves more than 23,000 residential and commercial utility service accounts in accordance with clearly established policies and procedures.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Prepare a cash drawer for use each morning, balance cash drawer at end of day.

  • Take payments from walk in customer: Cash, Check or Credit Card.

  • Answer general account questions or inquires for walk in customers, phone calls and emails.

  • Process mail/night drop payments daily through scanning software.

  • Track and process trash complaints received.

  • Process requests for payment extensions or payment plans.

  • Process applications for service start, disconnect or transfer.

  • Process account change requests.

  • Send welcome emails to new customers.

  • Working knowledge of applicable accounts receivable, basic cash handling procedures, and basic accounting principles.

  • Other related duties as requested.

    Qualifications and Skill Requirements:

    Formal Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Relatable Work Experience: One (1) year of cash handling, accounts receivables and general accounting principles, general office, or front facing customer service. Basic computer hardware and software operation.

    Disclaimer: Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is define as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.
