The Rieth-Riley Internship Scholarship Award Program is in place to financially assist students who have successfully completed a full-time internship with Rieth-Riley.

  • Upon completion of 1st year internship with Rieth-Riley, $1,500 scholarship awarded

  • Upon completion of 2nd year internship with Rieth-Riley, $1,750 scholarship awarded

  • Upon completion of 3rd year internship with Rieth-Riley, $2,000 scholarship awarded

    SUMMARY

    Assist and support the equipment shop foreman.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Work will take place in both a shop environment as well as in the field at various paving and/or grading job sites, aggregate surface mining sites, and asphalt production facilities (work pickup truck will be provided as needed)

  • Under the guidance of an experienced shop mechanic mentor: exposure to troubleshoot and repair powertrains, drivetrains/power transmission, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, emission systems, air brake systems, etc. on various types of heavy road construction equipment, transportation equipment, power generation equipment, conveyor systems, and surface mining and asphalt plant wheel loaders.

  • Exposure to meter-based and time-based preventive maintenance systems, fleet GPS system, parts ordering, and the work-flow process from work request through closure and follow-up

    Qualifications

  • Pursuing an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Heavy Equipment Technology Engineering and/or Construction Management preferred

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills

  • Must have good organization skills

  • Must be quick to adapt and able to thrive in a fast paced, high pressure environment

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • Problem solving skills with attention to detail

  • Self-motivated; ability to work independently

  • Good written and verbal communication skills along with a positive attitude
