Overview:Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment.

Job Description:

Essential Functions

  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.

  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.

  • Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.

  • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.

  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.

  • Repairs or replaces defective parts.

  • Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.

  • Lubricates and cleans parts.

  • Starts devices to test their performance.

  • Sets up and operates drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.

  • Initiates purchase order for parts and machines.

  • Repairs electrical equipment.

  • Must work as a team player, ensuring product specifications are attained in a safe and efficient manner and communicate well with other team members.

  • Must follow company’s GMP’s, SOP’s, Plant Rules and Policies.

  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.

  • Strives to satisfy the requirements of internal and external customers.

  • Responsible for keeping work area clean.

  • Other duties may be assigned - General facility tasks

  • May be assigned to other shift assignments as needed

  • Work closely with maintenance technicians

  • Participate in the maintenance training program

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Employee is required to work in cold, damp environment.

  • Must have basic oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to stand, reach, stoop, kneel or crouch

  • Ability to lift and move 50-75 pounds (with assistance, when required)

  • Be at least 18 years old

  • Must have welding and minor fabrication experience

  • Strong knowledge of basic industrial mechanical systems, electricity and utilities

  • Ability to diagnose industrial mechanical systems, equipment and utilities problems
