Raba Kistner is seeking a detailed-oriented, dependableSenior Construction Inspector IIto join our Infrastructure team in thePerryville, MOarea. This individual oversees construction inspection activities to ensure compliance with project plans, approved shop/working drawings, project documents, and specifications reporting observations orally and in writing to direct report. This position requires application of engineering principles, keeping in alignment with established procedures. Others responsibilities include:

  • Prepare and submit accurate, legible, comprehensive and complete testing and/or inspection reports on a daily basis in accordance with established quality procedures.
  • Review plans, specifications, general notes and shop/working drawings for assigned activities prior to performing assigned duties.
  • Perform, supervise, and report on frequency compliance and coordinate field tests on materials and completed work using standard methods established by AASHTO, ASTM or other agency with appropriate, properly calibrated testing equipment.
  • Train and serve as a lead worker for less experienced workers; assigning work priority tasks.
  • Assist direct report in planning and coordinating inspection operations.
  • Meet with contractors supervisors or other project leaders on project sites to discuss and coordinate testing, sampling, or inspection of construction materials or construction procedures.
  • Review materials tests and completed work performed by inspectors to ensure compliance with requirements of established procedures.
  • Verify adequacy of samples and locations at which samples are collected to ensure representative distribution of sampling and testing.
  • The safe utilization, storage, and maintenance of all documents and tools, including company vehicle.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external personnel.
  • Work closely with direct report to establish priorities and deadlines, as well as provide updates on progress or delays of tasks or assignments.
  • Understand, adhere, and participate in the Raba Kistner Health and Safety and BBS Programs, setting a good example of our safety standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required. Generally, but not necessarily must have a minimum of 10 years experience in roadway and related facilities, construction inspection or NICET Level IV certification in Transportation Engineering Technology (Highway Construction). Related experience and/or education may be evaluated to substitute for on the job experience. The position must have good oral and written communication skills and be able to follow verbal and written instructions. This position requires you to perform mathematical calculations using basic algebra (fundamental laws, algebraic expressions), geometry, and the trigonometric functions of right triangles. Completion of Troxler Manufacturing or equal radiation safety course to use nuclear gauges, completion of State specific Technician Training and Certification Program (TTCP) for applicable testing/sampling procedures (or ability to complete within 6 months of employment), and ACI Field Testing Technician Level 1 certifications and trainings are preferred. Otherwise successful applicants without these certifications/trainings may be required to pursue attainment of these after empl yment. Related experience may be substituted with the approval of the client. This position requires extensive knowledge of highway construction plans, construction inspection procedures, and specifications, as well as materials used in highway construction, and thorough knowledge of materials testing procedures. Applicant must have considerable knowledge of the State specific manual of Uniform Traffic control Devices or National Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices approved by the Federal Highway Administrator as the National Standard and also construction project document auditing techniques. Possess a valid drivers license and meet firms auto insurability requirements. Able to drive short and/or long distances. Able to use hand tools such as sledgehammers, shovels, and picks.

The work environment for this position potential exposure to movement of heavy equipment on construction or roadway sites; potential exposure to hazardous dangerous chemicals and solvents, noise, dust, fumes, grease and oils, radiant and electrical energy, and vibration; all of which would require employee to follow proper safety procedures and utilize appropriate protective equipment.

This position may require protracted or irregular hours. Flexibility to work irregular hours is necessary due to client needs. Work may require out-of-town/overnight travel to Raba Kistner offices, client offices, and project locations.
