Our site in Perry, Ohio is part of the Global Manufacturing Solutions (GMS) business. We specialise in low volume, high mix electronics manufacturing for the aerospace, defense, industrial, and medical industries. With locations in North America, Europe and Asia, we provide highly engineered electronics and electromechanical assemblies for world-leading manufacturing companies. We provide customers with tailored business solutions, global sourcing and logistics.
Summary: Buyers will possess the experience and job knowledge to handle all aspects of the quoting, sourcing, and procurement of purchased material in support of current and potential production requirements. Their goal will be to derive the best possible price, delivery, and quality on all purchased material.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Order placement and confirmations
On-time delivery support
Purchase order updates/reschedules
Support of accounts payable and receiving issues associated with PO’s.
Maintain component information such as, but not limited to; lead time, pricing, and relationships as required in ERP System.
Manage and distribute PCNs (Part Change Notices) from the supply base.
Implementation of ECR’s related to purchased materials.
Ongoing problem solving and support of material shortages and problem parts.
Manage Quantity on Hand-Adjustments as needed
Quoting, negotiating, and sourcing of material as it relates to Purchase Order renewal, ongoing production, Last Time Buys or new part numbers.
Analysis, resolution, and recording of PPV - purchase price variances.
Manage Quality Concerns as required
Complete internal First Article Inspection paperwork.
Support, as assigned, to vendor quality and on-time delivery reporting.
Outside services purchase orders (including but not limited to programming; tinning; coating; taping; and screening).
Opportunity Buys.
Annual Quote implementation.
Assure the accuracy of all purchasing related records
Oversee product life cycle and communicate to program and product management.
Review and administer long-term and blanket purchase orders and contracts.
Review Material Resource Planning (MRP) and schedule as needed
Effectively manage supplier base in a fair, respectful, and ethical manner, while maintaining confidentiality and continuing to seek year over year costs downs.
Resolve with Quality all supplier related quality issues, supporting the resolve of all Supplier Corrective Action Reports (SCAR) issued to suppliers by Quality Department.
Manage key metrics
Buying responsibilities limited in nature (Expeditor/Buyer)
Buying responsibilities moderate in nature (Buyer)
Buying responsibilities complex and dollar value high in nature (Commodity Buyer)
Qualifications:

Education/Experience/Credentials: Junior Buyer level – less than two years of buying or material experience. Buyer - greater than three years of purchasing or material related experience. Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or purchasing related major in lieu of experience. C.P.M or C.P.I.M is a plus. Print reading and process knowledge of materials to be purchased. Senior Buyer – minimum of five years of purchasing or material related experience.
Language Ability: Excellent communication both written and verbal. Ability to read and analyze periodicals, business reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, Team Members, and the public. The individual must possess strong skills in grammar and proofreading.
Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and percentages.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to collect data, solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to maintain a professional and positive image in any situation using good judgment.
Computer Skills: Ability to use office software, including word; spreadsheets; databases; slide presentations; internet browsers, E-mail, and business systems software. MRP knowledge and Logic. Use third party quoting software.
