As a trainee, you will have the opportunity to travel to various State Parks within the Region for day trips and/or overnight trips. This may include temporary work assignments, trainings, and more. Once you successfully complete the Park Manager Trainee period, you will be promoted to the position of Park Manager 1 and can then apply for competitive reassignment or promotion to a park manager position within the Bureau of State Parks. Please note that while the position is based at one of the four State Park Regional Offices or within Parks Central Office, your work will primarily involve traveling to different State Parks in the Region.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch Park Management is 24-hour operation that may require overtime during emergency situations. Schedule varies and holidays, weekends, and evenings required May have to travel throughout Commonwealth for training and work assignments. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Four years of paraprofessional or technical experience providing administrative, maintenance, visitor, safety, or environmental education services in a public park or recreation area; or

Two years of paraprofessional or technical experience providing administrative, maintenance, visitor, safety, or environmental education services in a public park or recreation area; and an associate degree in parks and recreation, forestry, engineering, natural sciences, landscape architecture, or a closely related field; or

A bachelor's degree in parks and recreation, forestry, engineering, natural sciences, landscape architecture, or a closely related field; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements: All positions require possession of an active motor vehicle license. All employees must pass psychological testing (Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI). Failure to pass this test is a basis for removal from the position. All employees must obtain and maintain commission as a State Park Officer. All employees must obtain valid certification in standard first aid and adult, child, and infant CPR approved by the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or equivalent. All employees must pass Pennsylvania State Police and FBI criminal background checks. A record of conviction of a criminal offense for which more than one year in prison can be imposed as punishment is a basis for removal from the position.
