Caterpillar Inc. seeks Sr. Software Engineer at its facility located at 501 SW Jefferson Ave, Peoria, Illinois 61630. Design, develop and deploy Caterpillar's state-of-the-art digital platform. Perform all programming, project management, and development assignments without close supervision. Assigned more complex aspects of systems work. Work directly on complex application/technical problem identification and resolution, including responding to off-shift and weekend support calls. Work independently on complex systems or infrastructure components that may be used by one or more applications or systems. Drive application development focused around delivering business valuable features. Maintain high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices and habits. Identify and encourage areas for growth and improvement within the team. Communicate with end users and internal customers to help direct development, debugging, and testing of application software for accuracy, integrity, interoperability, and completeness. Perform integrated testing and customer acceptance testing of components that require careful planning and execution to ensure timely, quality results. Solve Problems by determining the best course of action, within departmental guidelines, from many existing solutions. Set priorities and establish work plans to complete broadly defined assignments and achieve desired results. Participate in brainstorming sessions focused on developing new approaches to meeting quality goals in the measure(s) stated. REQS: This position requires a bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field plus 3 years of experience in designing and developing software applications in Java or related occupation. Additionally, this position also requires experience in the following: (1) JAVA Programming; (2) Developing software applications using relational and Nosql databases; (3) Application architectural patterns, such as MVC, Microservices, Event-driven, etc.; (4) Deploying software using CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GoCD, Azure Devops etc.; (5) Deploying and maintaining software using public clouds such as AWS or Azure; (6) Developing functional and performance tests to run it through automated pipelines; and (7) Working within an Agile framework (ideally Scrum). Travel: Less than 10% domestic. Telecommuting: 100% telecommuting permitted.
