Commander, Navy Installations RECREATION AID (FITNESS) in Pensacola, Florida

Summary This position is located in the Athletic Branch, Recreation Services Division, Morale, Welfare, and Recreation Department, Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Florida. The incumbent is responsible for assisting the Supervisory Sports Specialist in providing fitness programs for all eligible patrons. Responsibilities Verifies the identification of all persons entering the facility. Patrols inside and outside, circulating among the patrons to maintain good order to prevent damage to the facility and equipment, and assist patrons as required. Issues recreation and athletic equipment. Assist in setting up appropriate equipment for recreational sporting events. (30%) Serves as an attendant in the gymnasium complex and informs patrons of physical fitness opportunities on the station. Instructs individuals in the proper implementation and maintenance of conditioning training programs designed by the Supervisory Sports Specialist. Orientates patrons in the use of fitness equipment. Demonstrates fitness equipment called in the individual training program. (25%) Operates a cash register. Collects and records financial transactions and prepares a daily activity record (DAR) at completion of shift. (15%) Performs routine inspection of all gymnasium equipment and reports deficiencies to supervisor. Operates washer and dryer to keep towels, uniforms, etc., clean and dry. Keeps all spaces in a neat and orderly fashion (dusting, empty trash cans, mop, vacuum, etc.) (15%) Performs exercise sessions as required for aerobics, flexibility, and Nautilus training. (5%) Performs minor repair to equipment using repair manual procedures. (5%) Performs other duties as assigned. (5%) Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Knowledge of and an interest in sports. Ability to assist people in a helpful and courteous manner. Training in physical education and fitness equipment including Nautilus machines, computerized cardiovascular equipment and free weights.
