Finger Lakes Health SCHEDULER in Penn Yan, New York

  • UR Medicine Finger Lakes Health is seeking an energetic, experienced and motivated individual to join our Scheduling Services team.

This position is physically located in Geneva, NY at Geneva General Hospital, 100% on-site. This is a part-time position, guaranteed 20 hours a week. This position does work 4-hour shifts, Monday-Friday.

Preferred candidates have medical terminology knowledge and an understanding of physician ordering practices and transcribing physician orders.

  • POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Under the direction and supervision of the scheduling Services Coordinator, and in accordance with the hospital and Scheduling Services Policies and procedures, schedule all procedures for the ancillary departments from incoming calls from the providers/patients, fax scheduling and electronic list (EMR) in a timely, accurate and courteous manner, push Images, burn CD’s and fax reports to the providers in a timely manner, scan orders to the proper account numbers. Assist with training staff in the scheduling process and day to day operations.

  • QUALIFICATIONS:

  • EDUCATION:

  • Minimum:

  • High school education or equivalent required.

  • Medical terminology.

  • Preferred:

  • AAS degree in Medical Assistant/Secretarial Science or experience in business with emphasis on healthcare or related field.

  • LICENSE:

  • PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS:

  • WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum:

  • Demonstrates skills in data entry, business machines, (fax, copier, etc.) and telephone customer service.

  • Knowledge and understanding of physician ordering practices as well as transcribing physician orders.

  • Preferred:

  • Previous experience in a medical scheduling service.

  • SKILLS:

  • Minimum:

  • Ability to accurately type 30-40 words per minute.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ability to deal with the people in a professional and courteous manner.

  • Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills.

  • Computer literacy.

  • Willingly performs other duties as requested.

  • Preferred:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office products and electronic medical record.

Salary Range: $15.91-$18.25
