About the Role

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for the daily coordination of supervisory and lead hand activities relating to all aspects of Warehouse operations on their assigned shifts. The coordination of activities also encompasses the areas of quality, safety, efficiency and maintenance needs within the department.

Your Responsibilities

• Establishes operational procedures for verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of material, including Returnable Containers and keeping of warehouse inventory.

• Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet Customer schedules.

• Suggests changes in working conditions to increase efficiency of department, or work crew.

• Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.

• Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.

• Participates in planning personnel safety and plant protection activities.

• Studies Customer schedules/ Shipping orders and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.

• Maintain housekeeping standards within the warehouses.

• Ensure that the appropriate warehouse supplies are in stock;

• Prepares work order for repairs and requisitions for replacement of equipment.

• Inspects physical condition of warehouse and equipment.

• Coordinate transportation arrangements, phoning daily for footage on trailer times, days, transit;

• Schedule overtime only as required.

• Manage inter-plant shipping.

• Ensure that finished goods rack are labeled and organized.

• Ensure that time system is updated daily to ensure proper payment of employees .

• Monitor employee efficiencies, attendance and other prescribed items through supervisory reporting.

• Manage employee counseling and disciplinary action to ensure a consistent approach.

• Work with scheduling and releasing on daily issues.

• Schedule second shift workload and truck times.

• Perform a minimum of one yearly performance appraisal for each direct report.

• Ensure that quality standards are communicated and enforced within the department.

• Ensure that safety standards are identified, communicated and enforced within the department.

• Ensure that training requirements for each departmental employee are identified and plans are in place to close any gaps.

• Ensure that environmental standards are identified, communicated and enforced within the department.

• Initiate, where required, employee counseling and disciplinary action.

Your preferred qualifications

• A grade 12 diploma is required as a minimum.

• Five years experience in a shipping/receiving function is required.

• Complete knowledge of the occupational health and safety act.

• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are required.
