NPI Manager - Engineering Services

POSITION SUMMARY :

The Engineering Services Manager leads and manages aspects of the local NPI team in execution of the NPI deliverables required to successfully design, build, and transfer new products from AE’s global design centers into manufacturing. Specifically this role will lead the Drafting and Pre-Production Services functions.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  1. Lead a team of professional individual contributors in the functions of Drafting, and PPS (PCBA Documentation).

  2. Generate strategic plans and KPI’s to departmental performance in support of New Product Development programs.

  3. Lead departmental & cross-functional efforts to innovate & continuously improve processes.

  4. Lead, coach and develop employees, refining skill sets as necessary to support future growth of larger or more complex NPI projects.

  5. Manage the allocation and utilization of resources and work through the product prioritization process to ensure new projects can be supported prior to being pulled to active status.

  6. Act as Subject Matter Expert for relevant departmental systems & processes (ECO process, Documentation release & control, etc).

  7. Adhere to organizational requirements on quality management, health and safety, code of conduct, legal stipulations, environmental, 5S policies and general duty of care.

  8. Other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT :

  • Location: Penang Science Park, Simpang Ampat Penang.

  • Works in a standard office environment and uses general office equipment.

  • Works under minimal supervision for a supervisor that may be in a different geographical location.

  • May require international travel (<10%).

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Critical thinking skills and proficient in risk and issue management.

  • Capable of development and management of a highly effective set of metrics.

  • Highly agile in achieving success within a constantly evolving environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop individuals and teams.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with executive management and to customers.

  • Self-motivated, proactive, exhibits an enthusiastic, confident and positive attitude.

EXPERIENCE :

Essential :

  • Minimum of 5 years above related experience in project management or new product development, in Operations or Manufacturing environments.

  • Direct experience with Drafting and/or PCBA Manufacturing is preferred.

EDUCATION :

Essential :

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology Management or closely related field or relevant education.

Desirable :

  • Master of Science degree preferred.

  • Electrical safety training (additional company safety courses may be required).

OTHERS :

  • Applicants must be willing to work in Penang Science Park.
