Advanced Energy Manager, Engineering Planning in Penang, Malaysia

Manager, Engineering Planning

POSITION SUMMARY :

A talented and creative hands-on engineering planning manager that is a leader to the planning team and works to support design engineering and production management to delight our customers with products on time and without defects. This Planning manager will work closely with engineers, production, sales, finance, warehouse, and logistics to ensure timely completion of tasks and shipments. Demonstrated project leadership and management skills are required. In addition, this person should show skills at teaching skills to others. This role will involve both design of new products and sustaining engineering on existing products.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  1. Manage performance and development of all team members in Engineering Planning, setting workflow priorities to minimize schedule impacts.

  2. Analyze factory demand and company revenue plans to effectively work with Production teams on lean manufacturing planning. Expedite material required for engineering builds whenever necessary and ensure that material is available for builds.

  3. Supervise the planning team and work with Design Leaders to create and implement projects from engineering to production. Act as a focal point to lead, train, and teach others the processes.

  4. Notify the appropriate personnel and/or take the appropriate action in a timely and pro-active manner in the event that schedules are exposed to slippage.

  5. Provide leadership and direction to the engineering community to ensure that all engineering policies, processes, and procedures are followed.

  6. Initiate product release from engineering to production, working closely with production planning to ensure a smooth transition. Verify that all project system variables are accurate.

  7. Analyzing factory demand plan, work with CAs and other related team to have all system data align with company goals.

  8. Working system reports and team performance reports, giving support to upper-level managers.

  9. Works on team performance improvement plan and other managers on system improvement.

  10. Adhere to organizational requirements on quality management, health and safety, code of conduct, legal stipulations, environmental, 5S policies and general duty of care.

  11. Other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT :

  • Location: Penang Science Park, Simpang Ampat Penang.

  • Works in standard office environment and uses general office equipment (telephone, PC, copier, fax machine, etc.), also will need work in production area.

  • Overtime may be necessary in times of increased production.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Thorough understanding of ERP or Material Requirements Planning (MRP), planning functions, and shop floor processes and materials.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to make independent decisions with initiative and tact.

  • Must be able to negotiate effectively with internal customers.

  • Ability to present ideas in a clear and concise manner, both orally and in writing with strong and effective presentation skills.

  • Ability to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.

  • Excellent judgment and initiative, including the ability to effectively balance multiple priorities.

  • Excellent understanding of true material lead times for all critical assemblies.

  • Excellent computer skills, including accurate data entry and experience with PC applications, such as Word (word-processing), Excel (spreadsheet), ad hoc queries, and/or relational databases. SAP a plus.

  • Self-motivated, proactive, exhibits an enthusiastic, confident and positive attitude.

EXPERIENCE :

Essential :

  • Minimum 3-5 years of production planning or material management experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

  • Minimum of 2-years experience as team leader.

Desirable :

  • Proven track record of success and growth in positions of increasing responsibility.

  • At least 1 year of experience supporting engineering team.

EDUCATION :

Essential :

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Operations Management, Finance, Materials Management, Computer Information Sciences, or Engineering, or equivalent education and/or experience.

  • Language on communication skill will be needed.

Desirable :

  • Master of Science degree preferred.

  • Electrical safety training (additional company safety courses may be required).
