Description

We are offering a contract employment opportunity for a Systems Administrator in the Oil and Gas industry, located in Houston, Texas. This role involves troubleshooting various systems, provisioning accounts, and managing network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and security.   • Design, install, and manage on-site and remote software and hardware systems

  • Troubleshoot technical issues and provide user support for all internal software and hardware systems

  • Implement and ensure network security measures, including firewalls, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems

  • Organize, manage, and conduct regular system backups to ensure data safety and integrity

  • Regularly evaluate and optimize system performance

  • Install, configure, and update software and hardware as necessary

  • Train and support staff on new technologies and systems

  • Handle system and user account maintenance, setup, and activation

  • Monitor IT processes, identify areas for improvement, and make necessary adjustments

  • Constantly stay updated with the latest technologies and industry trends

  • Work with IT vendors and service providers to ensure high quality and cost-effective services

  • Collaborate with IT team to plan and coordinate IT-related projects

  • Ensure all IT activities comply with federal and state laws, as well as organizational policies.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field

  • Proven work experience as a Systems Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar IT role

  • Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms

  • Knowledge of system security techniques and data backup/recovery

  • Ability to create and manage user accounts and troubleshoot system errors

  • Proficient in networking and routing protocols

  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work under pressure

  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with team members and explain complex IT concepts to non-IT employees

  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate, or CompTIA Network+ will be preferred

  • Ability and willingness to stay updated with the latest advancements in technology and industry best practices.

  • Proficient in database management and software installation.

  • Strong understanding of firewall administration, antivirus systems, and data encryption.

  • Working knowledge of virtualization.

  • Must be available for on-call support when required.
