Kelsey-Seybold Clinic Associate General Counsel in Pearland, Texas

Responsibilities

The Associate General Counsel provides legal guidance on health care operations, insurance, HIPAA, and affiliated entity matters and attends to other legal needs for Kelsey-Seybold Clinic.

Responsible for legal services relating to the day-to-day operations of Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, KelseyCare Advantage, and affiliated entities (pharmacy, ASC, radiology), including compliance with organizational documents.

Oversee and handle legal issues that may arise, including advising physicians, executives, directors, HR, etc.

Review and negotiate complex and routine contracts, including but not limited to vendor agreements

Anticipate and mitigate potential legal problems, develop strategies to avoid costly litigation, and reduce potential areas of risk. Develop form contract templates for use by other departments and review contracts required by the organization.

Participate as needed in acquisition or divestiture transactions, including onboarding of new acquisitions and compiling due diligence materials.

Assist in developing processes, templates, and training materials and utilizing available technologies to improve and promote efficiency, consistency, and compliance with regulatory and business requirements.

Qualifications

Education

Required: Juris Doctor (J.D.) Degree

Experience

Required: Minimum of 6 years’ health law experience.

Preferred: Experience within a health care organization

License(s)

Required: Texas (TX) license to practice law

Special Skills

Required: Experience in negotiating and drafting contracts in a variety of settings.

Preferred: Knowledge of federal and state healthcare laws

Other

Required: Excellent communication and time management skills

Preferred: N/A
