Jacobs Systems Engineer, Senior - Lead in Patuxent River, Maryland

Your Impact:

Jacobs is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer for a prime contract that is based out of St. Inigoes, MD. As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will apply analytic techniques in the evaluation of project IT systems objectives. Analyze requirements, status, budget, personnel resources, and schedules. Tracks project status and schedules. Plans, directs, and coordinates IT systems to support activities and projects.

Act as the Systems Engineer functional team lead. This includes lead and administrator for portions of the contracted effort supporting NCR communications systems and networks. Serving as the alternate interface and alternate point of contact for the GPLs and other Government authorities for compliance, reporting and technical project issues. Will be considered an expert for providing technical guidance and information to meet requirements. Also provide technical expertise in system security requirements, designs security architecture and develops a security design for program platforms. Develops System Engineering plans, and procedures in accordance with DoD best practices.

The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers. Our program includes easily available process information and support for subordinates across the team.

Research, design, develop, test, or supervise the manufacturing and installation of RF communications equipment, components, or systems for commercial, industrial, military, or scientific use.

Responsibilities: Senior Systems Engineer, Lead functions

  • Apply electrical and electronic theory and related knowledge, usually under the direction of engineering staff, to design, build, repair, adjust, and modify electrical components, circuitry, controls, and machinery for subsequent evaluation and use by engineering staff in making engineering design decisions.

  • Oversees the application of engineering techniques, principles, and precedents to develop, design, modify, install, test, evaluate, or operate electrical, electronic, avionics, mechanical, communications, or related data processing systems for DoD communication systems, public- safety radio systems, meshed radios, networks and associated support equipment or components.

  • Reviews, analyzes, develops, prepares, or applies engineering, technical, or maintenance specifications, policies, standards, or procedures. Organizes, analyzes, and prepares reports or presentations of technical data and information.

  • Plans and performs tests and evaluations of systems equipment or components. Compiles, processes, reduces, or analyzes test data results.

  • Provides subject matter expertise on the operation, installation, modification, troubleshooting, and maintenance of DoD and public-safety communications systems.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Minimum Years of Experience: 10 years

  • At least five (5) years must have specialized experience including system engineering and implementation

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline

  • US Citizen with an active TS/SCI Clearance with ability to obtain Poly

  • DoD 8570.1 compliant IAM/IAT Level III certification

  • AutoCAD and/or Solidworks

  • RMF experience, design assurance or testing for INFOSEC products and systems

  • Integration or testing for INFOSEC products and systems is required

  • Experience in heterogeneous computer networking technology and work in protocol and/or interface standards specification is preferred.

  • Attendance is always critical. Must be able to work a 40-hour workweek, normally Monday through Friday. However, times and days may vary depending on business requirements. Needs to be available to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last minute requests for overtime should the situation occur. There will be minimum requirements for travel away from home base.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

  • Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in either Engineering, computer science, or an IT discipline.

  • Should be highly analytical and effectively able to troubleshoot and prioritize needs, requirements, and other issues.

  • Prior military experience is a 'preference' for this customer.

  • Should be committed to continuous learning and system development because of the constant developing nature of cyber-attacks.

  • Should have the ability to quickly learn new concepts, data formats, and software.

  • Should be a self-motivated, independent, detail oriented, responsible team player, and exhibit exceptional relationship management skills.
