Vectrus Software Engineer (Analyst) - Top Secret Clearance in Patuxent River, Maryland

We have an opportunity for a Software Engineering Support Analyst to support our customer at NAS Patuxent River, MD. The Software Engineering Support Analyst will directly assist in the planning, integration, and support of the Next Generation Threat System (NGTS) into the Navy's LVC training environment. This position involves testing, managing, and data analysis of NGTS.

Due to the classified nature of this effort all work must be completed at the customer site.

Responsibilities

  • Consult requirements documentation, cybersecurity guidance, and coding standards when making code changes to ensure consistency, readability, and correctness.

  • Utilize Continuous Integration (CI) and automation pipelines in a Linux environment to create reproducible, quality software executables.

  • Peer-review code to ensure accuracy and adherence to requirements and coding standards.

  • Requirements design implementation and integration related to JPALS SP software updates and enhancements.

  • JPM auto-code generation and merge with hand code.

  • Participating in Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews and Sprint Retrospectives (story point assessment etc.)

  • Updating PTRs in JIRA, writing test scripts, peer review of code

  • Work within the Agile methodology

Qualifications

  • Education:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or related area of study.

  • Ten (10) years of experience as a software developer may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.

  • Experience:

  • Significant experience with hardware/software interface coding

  • Experience with software engineering functions such as, requirement analysis and definition, configuration management, quality assurance, unit and system level testing, reliability and maintainability, cost estimating, risk analysis/assessment, and human factors.

  • Practical experience with software development within the training and training systems domains

  • Experience with current and emerging software development methodologies, processes, and life-cycle models, (e.g. CMM, CMMI, IEEE-12207, Waterfall, and Spiral)

  • Skills

  • High degree of proficiency coding with C++ and Ansible

  • Knowledge of networked simulation protocols (DIS, HLA)

  • Linux command line knowledge

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to positively interact with individuals at all levels.

  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience utilizing software tools for engineering is desired.
