SMX is looking for a highly-motivated Senior Software Systems Engineer with demonstrated experience to maintain the various systems used in a Software Development program.

As the Senior Software Systems Engineer, you will join a team of highly driven, supportive, and skilled professionals engaged in supporting program management, technical, or business case analysis across the NAVAIR community.

In this role, you will:

  • Perform Software Systems Engineering for the acquisition, development and sustainment of various programs supporting aircraft and weapons systems.

  • Perform the following activities as part of software development:

  • system resource evaluation

  • software requirements evaluation

  • design evaluation

  • software definition, code and unit test

  • integration test

  • software delivery and independent test

  • software quality assurance

  • software configuration monitoring

  • Conduct reviews of Contract Data Requirements List products

  • Participate in System Engineering Technical Reviews evaluating work products to Government standards

  • Participate in all software life-cycle reviews from requirements analysis, preliminary design, detailed design, integration, and test

  • Review and comment on proposed system requirements, based on Government provided information

  • Verify the system requirements meet the stated program objectives

  • Support program reviews and periodic program status meetings

  • Support the Engineering Change Process

  • Support Statement of Work development

  • Support technical evaluations of Request For Proposal

  • Make recommendations regarding human systems engineering

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Clearance Required: Secret

  • BS or BA degree in a Technical Discipline.

  • 6 years’ additional experience within these functional duties or an associate's degree and 4 years may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree

  • At least ten (10) years of experience in software systems engineering in support of DoD systems such as:

  • DoD aircraft systems, DoD weapons systems, DoD mission systems or DoD support systems

  • Direct experience supporting the design, development, integration, and system testing of computer hardware and software

  • Operating System certificate (i.e. Windows or Linux) and COMPTIA Security+ or other DOD INST 8570 compliant qualifications

  • The successful candidate should possess strong communication and presentation skills as well as strong critical thinking and reasoning skills

  • Some travel may be required

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with DOD-STD-2167A/MIL-STD-498/IEEE 12207 is preferred.

  • Experience with Systems Software, Systems-of-Systems engineering, model-based systems engineering, or systems safety & reliability is desired.
