General Summary The General Foreman will be responsible for supervising and coordinating all on-site activities, ensuring that construction projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in heavy civil construction, strong leadership skills, and a proven ability to manage multiple teams and projects simultaneously. This is a safety sensitive position. This position is based out of Hermiston, OR. Essential Job Accountabilities * Coordinating daily tasks according to priorities and plans, making changes when necessary due to weather, supply, delivery and personnel * Delegating individual responsibilities and projects to crew members and contractors * Recruiting, hiring, training, managing and mentoring employees and contractors * Providing adequate resources and staffing to meet project schedules, laws, regulations, best practices and safety needs * Emphasizing safe use of tools, machinery and equipment while providing training on safety gear, helmets and procedures * Developing and managing project budgets and quality standards for all sites * Resolving conflicts or miscommunications quickly and amicably * Regularly reporting project status to supervisors, site engineers and other officials Education * High School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience Work Experience * Appropriate training and experience required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities * Customer-service skills to communicate with inspectors and administration to develop a positive working relationship. * Decision-making skills for selecting personnel and subcontractors for specific tasks and jobs to meet deadlines and budgets. * Leadership skills for effectively delegating tasks to workers. * Speaking skills for providing clear orders, explaining complex information to clients and construction workers and discussing technical details * Technical skills for interpreting construction methods and technologies along with contracts and technical drawings. * Time-management skills to meet deadlines and ensuring construction phases are completed on time so that the next phase can start. * Writing skills for writing budgets, proposals and plans along with documenting work progress for clients and others involved. Physically, working foremen must be able to: * Work easily and skillfully with hands * Climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolds * See well (naturally or with correction) and distinguish colors * Reach for, handle, and grasp wires and hand tools * Bend, crouch, and work in small places * Lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
