Bollinger Mississippi Shipbuilding Mechanical Engineer II/1908/Pascagoula in Pascagoula, Mississippi

This Position is for a Mechanical Engineer II Full Time with a company located in Pascagoula.

 

Job Summuary: A Mechanical Engineer II is responsible for the design of a vessel's propulsion and auxiliary systems, piping and HVAC. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:  Coordinates with personnel in other disciplines, such as electrical engineers and naval architects.

 Designs products or systems such as instruments, controls, engines, machines, and mechanical, thermal, hydraulic or heat transfer systems. Prepares purchase technical specifications. Prepares CCR's and ECN's in accordance with the Company's ISO Procedures NC-009 and NC-010. Directs designers in the development of functional drawings.

Directs and coordinates activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems for use onboard vessels. Researches and analyzes data, such as customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application. Guides personnel in fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment and development of testing methods and procedures. Ensures that products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications. May design products and systems to interface machines, hardware, and software. May evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions. 

Must follow all Company policies and procedures, including those relative to employee safety, environmental policy, and the principles of our quality system.

Other duties assigned or requested by Management. 

Works overtime as required. 

Reports to work daily and on time. 

 

Education and Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Marine Engineering from an accredited university preferred. (Similar engineering degree may be accepted.) Demonstrates good communication skills, including written and oral communication. Working knowledge of ABS, USCG, SOLAS, and other rules that may apply to projects.

Ability to use computer assisted engineering software and equipment in performing tasks. Ability to develop design calculations and produce deliverables with minimum supervision. Four (4) years of experience in Mechanical or Marine Engineering preferred.
