Job Description

 

Lays or erects sills, beams, studs, corner posts, ridge poles, trusses, framing and other basic timbers. Lays shingles, clapboards, and other outside wood covering. Builds and installs window frames or casements, door frames, outside trims. Installs inside walls, laths, sheathing, floors, ceilings, stairs and inside trim. Builds closets, counters, shelves, bins and hangs doors and windows. Makes repairs and alterations in existing building, considering factors of structural strength, as well as utility and appearance. Builds concrete forms, pouring chutes, scaffolds, wood channels, equipment enclosures, and wood foundations for machinery installation. Makes and repairs various wood articles such as benches, tables, lockers and cases. Some ironwork as related to building and facilities construction, modification, alteration and repair. Must be comfortable working safely at elevated heights.

Basic Qualifications

 

Three (3) or more years of commercial and/or residential carpentry experience to include framing and wall construction, form and figuring concrete, and laying floor tile. Must be able to layout and cut rafters.

Mississippi Scholars Tech Master Certification preferred.
