Ethos Veterinary Health Veterinary Assistant - Surgery in Parker, Colorado

Welcome to Animal Emergency & Specialty Center (AESC)! We are a 24/7 Emergency Care Veterinary Hospital with 7 different Specialties. AESC Team is growing, and we are seeking motivated, positive and compassionate individuals to join our team. We are looking for a Surgical Veterinary Assistant to join our team!

This position is expected to work Monday-Friday 8am-4pm. Schedules are subject to change based on the needs of the Hospital and Department. Training days/hours TBD.

This position will pay $18-$23 hourly DOE

Overall Responsibility: Surgical Assistants provide excellent technical skills and a strong knowledge of surgical procedures in vet medicine. Assisting doctors and technicians in the specialty departments with patient exams, procedures, and keeping detailed records during hospitalization. A Surgery Assistant must have excellent communication skills with all hospital team members and be focused on providing quality patient care.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide care for animals as needed pre and post-op per the surgeons and technicians.

  • Blood draws

  • Hospitalized patient treatments

  • Admitting patients for surgery

  • Scrubbing into surgeries

  • Clean, organize and maintain the pack-n-prep area. Including putting together and wrapping surgical packs, cleaning and organizing instruments, prep and maintenance of sterilizers.

  • Maintain cleanliness of all operating rooms, flipping and cleaning between surgeries.

  • Help restrain animals when needed

  • Keep the pack n prep area stocked at all times, keep the OR's stocked at all times. Including pass-through and recovery areas.

  • Lab work: PT/PTT, EPOC, Blood Typing, CBC, Chemistry

  • Other duties as directed

Minimum Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent required. At least 1 year of veterinary experience required.

Preferred Requirements: Strong technical skills to provide excellent and efficient patient care. Ability to multitask and anticipate needs. Excellent communication skills in all areas including clients, staff, and leadership. Exceptional work ethic and positive attitude. Ability to adhere to strict attendance policies. Ability to handle fluctuation caseload and emergency situations.

Physical Requirements: This job is physically active and requires frequent bending, standing, routine lifting and restraining of animals that exceed 50lbs.
