Summary:

Meta is seeking a Principal Research Scientist to join our Core Learning team at FAIR, an organization focused on making research breakthroughs in AI. Individuals in this role are expected to be world-leading experts in research areas such as ML theory, optimization, generalization, memory, reasoning, and responsible AI. The ideal candidate for this position will have a track record in producing new science that is seminal to understanding intelligence, and also the experience to lead collaborations across multiple research teams.

Principal Research Scientist, Core Learning Responsibilities:

  1. Influence and drive strategy for long-term ambitious research to advance the science and technology of intelligent machines

  2. Form internal partnerships, influence, resolve conflict, build alignment, and work effectively across teams and disciplines throughout the company to execute the strategy

  3. Call out opportunities and risks across multiple research teams

  4. Influence progress of relevant research communities by producing publications

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Experience in a faculty, industry, or government research position with primary emphasis on AI research

  2. Ph.D. and established track record of leading influential research, e.g. as evidenced by high-impact publications at peer-reviewed AI conferences (e.g. NeurIPS, CVPR, ICML, ICLR, ICCV, ACL, Interspeech and ICASSP)

  3. Experience building and executing on long-term research strategies

  4. Experience communicating research for public audiences of peers, as well as non-technical audiences

  1. Significant experience in a faculty, industry, or government research position with primary emphasis on AI research

  2. Track record of translating research into business impact

  3. Experience working with a variety of cross-functional peers and stakeholders (e.g., product managers, data scientists, designers, engineers, policy, communications, marketing)

  4. Experience in managing research teams in academic and industrial settings

  5. Strong command of the mathematics necessary to conduct rigorous theoretical research
