Position Title: Line cook

Reports to: Head Chef

Position Summary:

Accurately and efficiently cooks meats, fish, vegetables, soups, and other food products as well as prepare and portion food products prior to cooking. Cooks all items that are ordered keeping in mind timing, temperature and food quality. Maintains a safe, clean and sanitary work area. Also performs other duties in food and plate preparation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and portions food items for cooking by specified recipes.

  • Complies with all portion sizes, quality standards, department rules, policies and procedures.

  • Maintains a safe, clean and sanitary work station.

  • Cook food items at the proper time and temperature to assure entire order comes up together.

  • Assists in food prep assignments and keeps station stocked.

  • Assumes 100% responsibility for quality of product served.

  • Communicates with other staff to ensure smooth shift transition.

  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Prerequisites:

Must be able to speak clearly and listen attentively to other staff members. Must be able to stand and exert at a well-paced mobility for a period of up to 8 hours in length. Must be able to lift pots, pans and cases up to 40 pounds. Must be able to read and follow written recipes and instructions.
