Thompson Engineering Mechanical Engineer (1054592) in Panama City, Florida

Thompson Engineering is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to work on a large construction program at Patrick AFB, FL. Assignment will be for 3 years.

  • Specifically, the individual will ensure expeditious prosecution of the work including the following:
  • Monitor the progress of the work through daily field inspection, verify that the work is being installed according to the accepted plans, specifications, and good engineering and construction practices.
  • Review and provide written comments on construction contractor submittals, including technical submittals, materials list, OandM manuals, test procedures, commissioning plans, etc.
  • Participate in and provide technical advice in construction planning review conferences.
  • Provide technical interpretations of plans and specifications, and provide determination on whether methods and materials employed meet the requirements of contract.
  • Provide information on the construction contractor's daily activities, and assist in producing the Government's Daily Quality Assurance Reports.
  • Provide oversight of the construction contractor's Quality Control program to ensure compliance with contract requirements and standards.
  • Include evaluation of level of inspection, testing procedures and results, documentation of deficiency correction, etc. in accordance with the USACE 3-Phase inspection program.
  • Participate in start-up tests, demonstrations, field instructions, and commissioning activities with the appropriate personnel.

Minimum Requirements

  1. A bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution
  2. A minimum of ten years of engineering experience in construction management on large complex multimillion dollar DOD construction projects.
  3. These characteristics are a plus:
    • Corps of Engineers experience with Resident Management System (RMS)
    • Microsoft Office proficient
