Position Summary, Junior-Mid Level Software Developer

Innovative Professional Solutions, Inc. (IPS)a successful defense contractor located in Panama City Beach, Floridahas provided exceptional support to our Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) customers for more than 20 years. We are looking for an energetic, proactive, Junior to Mid-Level Software Developerto support sophisticated United States naval software systems. The ideal candidate is technically savvy, quality focused, and committed to become expertly familiar with the complexities of U.S. naval software and associated systems. The range of responsibilities will include but, are not limited to: software development, testing, integration, maintenance, configuration management, and formulation of software revision updates and sustainment. Developed product must be in accordance with standard United States Navy and Government instructions, policies, procedures, and standards. This project is exciting, challenging, and interesting and requires the ability to easily adapt to change.

Highlights of Responsibilities: Perform software development on the governments software products in accordance with the guidance in the Software Development Plan. Support embedded firmware development from coding to system testing. Provide updates to software requirements documents, specifications, and other software documents in alignment with software development activities. Contribute to weekly and monthly status reports.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 3-8 years relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain a Security clearance.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must pass a background check.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with configuring MS Office, Database, and Adobe applications.
  • Experience with MS Windows 7, 10, 11 and Red Hat Linux.
  • Experience with C, Python, Assembly, and Verilog.
  • Hands-on experience with firmware coding, programing, and testing software in the field.
  • Experience with troubleshooting, maintaining, and documenting software issues.
  • Experience with troubleshooting software issues and employing a ticketing system to track task completion.
  • Experience with closed networked systems.
  • Hands-on experience in a software lab environment.
  • Experience with FORTRAN.
  • Experience using database tools and frameworks such as ProstgreSQL and Hibernate is a plus.
  • Capable of writing and executing procedures.
  • Adapts easily to change and possess great interpersonal skills.
  • Able to assess and solve problems independently or as part of a team.
  • Possess strong listening skills to interface with end users.

Travel: Some OCONUS travel may be required.

Tools and Technology: Active directory service interfaces (ADSI), virtual machines, and command prompt/power shell. Host Based Security System (HBSS). Various web-based tools will be used.

Working Conditions/Environment: Work will be conducted at an IPS office, Depot, as well as at NSWC PCD. Some tasks may include reaching, lifting (up to 50 pounds), bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing ladders/stairs, and walking.
